MEETING
NOTICE
PLACE: WHEATON BILLAGE CRAFT BUILDING
MILLVILLE,
NEW JERSEY
April 8, 2008
TIME 7:30 PM
February 12th meeting cancelled due to bad weather
No minutes
Minutes of March 11, 2008
George Conover called the meeting to order with 14 members present. The minutes of January 8th
were read and accepted as read with one correction as follows: Wildwood Crest Hydrofest
on October 5 and 5 us in conflict with Clarksville, VA NOT Portsmouth, VA. There has been discussions between
Ann Fitzgerald and Clarksville about changing dates around between the two races. But, because of tides,
Ann has no choice but to keep this weekend and Charksville, because of festival, etc., has no choice either. The
Treasurer’s report was read and accepted as read. Report of file.
George, Karen Rivera, Tami Hickerson, Barbara Brown, Mitch Brown, Ann and John Fitzgerald had a dinner meeting with
Mary Ann Murphy and her daughter, Meredith Krechmer, on the 23rd of February. Mrs. Murphy had
a list of things she wanted to go over to be brought to this meeting. A few of these things were:
Poster size, would like to see it larger. Would like a program book printed with ads sold for our
race. Perpetual trophy given at race but we would, as a club, come up with the reason given.
Contacting our bank for sponsorship money. Trophies given to top three in eight classes to have
only “Daniel J. Murphy Memorial Regatta printed on them (no other sponsor). Raising membership dues
next year. All of these things were discussed but not finalized and will be discussed again at next meeting.
Mrs. Murphy was very impressed by our website thanks to our webmaster, Tami Hickerson. We are all
impressed. Fine job. If you haven’t entered your team and picture of your boat
please do so as soon as possible. http://www.windingriverboatingassn.org
Frank
Beck researched the Program Books and for about 500 books the cost would be around $1,000.00 and would be lessened by selling
ads. For an incentive gibe those who purchase ads we would give pit passes and would advertise on our boats
for the weekend. Warren Brown, III suggested the local Police Cadets man the Pit gates for a contribution
from our Club. Frank Beck suggested T-Shirts printed up (maybe a neon Kelly Green) for working personnel
in the pits. Frank Beck had a company in mind to print T-shirts for $4.00 to $6.00 each. Mitch
Brown suggested TV commercials and Speed Vision. He talked to Joe Rasasco of Ch 40. The
commercials, for a 30 second slot, would be anywhere from $45.00 to $300.00 and televised on their news hours.
The more videos we supply the less it would be. Production for them to do the video taping would
be an additional $600.00. With more advertising we may get more spectators and then parking would be a
problem. Maybe parked down the street and run a shuttle bus to beach and back.
All of these things must be researched further and talked about at next meeting.
Mrs. Murphy also had WRBA patches made and were given out to the Board Members. Anyone else who
would like a patch contact George Conover. Patches are for sale for $12.00 each and proceeds will go to
Club.
Since we had a few problems with our last Christmas Dinner, George and Maryann
Conover stopped by Sugar Hill Inn in Mays Landing, NJ. Would be about $36.00 per person. More
info next meeting.
Jodi Brown is recovering from gall bladder surgery and is doing
fine. If you would like to send her a card send to: Jodi Brown
