MEETING NOTICE

PLACE: WHEATON BILLAGE CRAFT BUILDING

MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY

Minutes of May 13, 2008

 

    

     George Conover called the meeting to order with 15 members present.  The minutes of April 8th were read and accepted as read.  The Treasurer’s report was read and accepted as read.  Report on File.

     John Fitzgerald received the raffle tickets for members to sell for the NASCAR event raffle.  Karen Rivera reimbursed him.  The tickets will be sent with minutes for our members to sell.  If you are unable to sell please return the ticket books as soon as possible to :                     Karen Rivera

     APBA gave us $750.00 in grant money this year for our race.  The check was given to Karen River for Deposit. 

     Bill Densten is going to remind the Millville Rescue Squad about the race date.  Bill told us that the Millville Car Show will be August 9th this year.  Any and all boats are welcome for display.  The show is from 9 am until 3 pm.  You have to be there at 7:30 am for placement on the street in downtown Millville, NJ.  Please wear your uniform shirts.  Bring pictures, trophies, etc to show off your boat.

     George received information that the Lenape Park is now owned by Atlantic County Parks.  There will be a place for motor homes to park and we will need to a shuttle bus and driver to transport people to beach and pit area and back.

     Mary Ann Murphy has talked to George and wants Ann Fitzgerald to make up Polo Shirts and T’s for working staff and for her family.  Thought that Kelly Green for staff and Royal Blue for others that will be for sale.  (SEE ORDER FORM INCLOSED)  Tote bags will be ordered again this year for driver’s bags.  Mrs. Murphy would also like to see more advertising.  Also, Mrs. Murphy would like to have a “Special” trophy this year.

“Daniel J. Murphy, Jr. Award of Excellence” with criteria:  1. Performance on the race course.  2. Team Appearance. 3. Sportsmanship.

This will be decided by the WRBA Trustees.  The trophy recipient will be decided on Saturday and given on Sunday at drivers meeting.  Awarded by Mrs. Murphy.  A motion was made by Ann Fitzgerald for criteria, trustees to decide when and by whom awarded.  All present by a show of hands, none opposed.  Motion carried.  This trophy will be kept by the recipient for one year, then returned and given a keepsake plaque. 

     Warren and Mitch Brown, Tami Hickerson, Tabathta Carr, Frank Beck and Bobby Wood will be on the committee for the Program Book.

     Warren Brown will contact the Police Explorers to man the Pit Gates.  A donation from WRBA must be made.

     Frank Beck had decals made up of our website address and showed them at the meeting.  Can get them in red, white, or black.  Some said that they wanted them for their boat trailers.  Also, Frank Beck would like a couple of boats to come to the Atlantic County Institute of Technology for the students there to see and hopefully ask questions to start an interest in our sport. 

     Read into the minutes, Clean Boating Act of 2008 for our support of the recreational boater.  This will provide permanent exemption of the upcoming EPA Discharge Permit requirement.  If not defeated by the CBA this will be in effect on September 30, 2008 and all who operate a boat will need to purchase a permit.

     The Propeller had an error about capsule training due date.  Please check with your Region for dates.

     With no further business, old or new, Bob Wood mad a motion to adjourn and Henry Wendt second the motion.
