MEETING
NOTICE
PLACE: WHEATON BILLAGE CRAFT BUILDING
MILLVILLE,
NEW JERSEY
JANUARY 13, 2009
TIME 7:30 PM
Minutes of November 11, 2008
NO MEETING IN DECEMBER
George Conover called the meeting to order with 16 members present.
The minutes of October 14th were read and accepted as read. The Treasurer’s report
was read and accepted as read. Report on file.
On October 23rd Bill Roberts passed away. Bill was a long time contributor to WRBA.
A card on behalf of the members of WRBA was sent.
Janice
Sutton asked for a motion to send Christmas Cards this year. John Fitzgerald made the motion and Henry
Wendt second the motion. All in favor. Motion carried and Janice Sutton will send cards
to all members and to those who registered and raced at our Daniel J. Murphy, Jr. Memorial Regatta in October.
George has heard from Al Huck and he is home from the hospital and doing much better. He wanted
to thank everyone for the card sent. Really meant a lot to him.
Henry Wendt reported on Region 3 Annual Meeting held on November 2, 2008. Held elections for officers
and the outcome was:
Ann Shaw, Chairwoman
Peggy Wendt, Vice-Chairwoman
Beth Mower, Secretary
Martha Atkins, Treasurer
Inboard Directors Elected:
Dave Shaw
Thom Heins
Henry Wendt
Discussed at the
Annual meeting was a possible by-law change for elections but was defeated. Bill for race drivers under
16 years of age is progressing through legislation.
Our race in October made money by selling
50/50 tickets, $150.00, a total of $350.00 from Bondi Concessions for Saturday and Sunday. Bill Johnson
made a motion to give Patty a complimentary membership for our thanks. Warren Brown second the motion and
all present in favor. Motion carried.
The Daniel J. Murphy
Memorial Trophy was given to Brandon Kennedy for 2008. The trophy was presented to Brandon by Mrs. MaryAnn
Murphy. Ann Fitzgerald took pictures to be put in the Propeller along with a short caption written by Ann.
George brought up the subject of our yearly dues not being enough to cover the mailing. Postage
has gone up twice and photo coping has also gone up .02 cents per copy. Because of this the dues will be
raised to $20.00 for members (Single Person) and $10.00 for spouse. George made a motion to raise the dues
and Bill Johnson second the motion. 14 members present for and 2 members present against. Motion
carried. As of January 2009 dues will be raised. (If anyone has already sent their 2009
dues in at old amount it will not be necessary to send additional money.)
Henry
Wendt wanted us (WRBA) to rethink the race course set up at Lake Lenape. The first turn is to close (dangerously)
to the Pit area (boats in the water). George said that he would take a look at the lake and if a change
is needed he will have to reapply to Atlantic County for the change. Maybe take that corner back a bit.
Bill Densten took the check to Millville Rescue Squad and they are a go with us in 2009.
With no further business, old or new, Mike Kane made a motion to adjourn and George Conover, Jr. second the motion.
Adjourned at 8:45PM.
