MEETING NOTICE
PLACE:
WHEATON BILLAGE CRAFT BUILDING
MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY
June
9, 2009
TIME 7:30 PM
______________________________________________________________________________
Minutes of May 12, 2009
George Conover called the meeting to order at 7:50 PM with 16 members present. The minutes of April 14th were read and
accepted as read. In Karen Rivera’s absence, George read the Treasurer’s report was read and accepted as
read. Report on file. Karen had surgery on her shoulder and is home doing fine.
Vickie Emmell and Don Kolb had information on the Clarion Hotel. A block of 20 rooms at $59.00 per
night for our Daniel J. Murphy Memorial Regatta in September.
This
includes Continental Breakfast and a shuttle bus into Atlantic City Casinos if anyone is interested. Vickie
and Don also inquired about having our Christmas Party there. Have a ballroom that would accommodate us
for $31.00 per person which is very reasonable. More information later, as time gets closer, on details.
Vickie also went to Bennett Chevrolet and asked about two tow vehicles for our race.
Frank Beck contacted Jim Stewart about printing
our Program Book. 500 copies based on 20 pages and a full color front and back page. He
will be able to do this for us. Will quote a price before we make a decision.
Clayton Ingersoll of Atlantic County was asked
about the Motor Home Parking area. George sent letters so he can get it approved. Hamilton
Township said that due to a cut in overtime, the bathroom cleaning and trash collection will not be done on Friday and not
again until Monday. Not on Saturday or Sunday. We will have to plan accordingly.
Henry Wendt reported on Lake Hopatcong Racing
Association meeting on the Saturday, May 9th before the race on May 16th and 17th and cancelled
the race due to low water in lake. In the Pit area (beach) the water was dangerously low for boat props,
rudders, etc. LHRA is hoping to reschedule the race this Fall.
The Boat Safety Certificates testing for persons 27 years or older, the 1 1/2hour class, will be given up to May 30th.
On June 1st and after persons will have to take an 8 hour class.
The Wildwoods Hydrofest is moving along. Congratulations to Ann and John Fitzgerald at succeeding
in getting this Regatta named the “Governor’s Cup” by the state of New Jersey.
George talked to Darin Oberman of the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Dept about the Scouts working our pits.
The boys are aged 12 to 19 and require a donation of $100.00 per day for their assistance. Deputy
Oberman will get back to George.
Frank Beck
said that there will be a Mays Landing Home Town Celebration on June 27th. Thought it would
be great for our club to have our boats there on display and to pass out Rack Cards. Let Frank know if
you would be able to be there with your boat. 1-609-645-8264 or Frank.Beck@njatla.ang.af.mil Since this is the town that holds our Regatta our club members should support this celebration by exhibiting.
Bill Densten reminded us of the Millville Car
Show on August 8th 2009.
With no further
business, old or new, Dave Sutton made a motion to adjourn and Dan Conover second motion. Adjourned at
8:35 PM.
